Dave is an author, scriptwriter and playwright,
journalist and editor.

Until 2000 he edited three national magazines
at the same time: Storylines (the magazine of the Society
for Storytelling), English Dance and Song (the magazine
of the English Folk Dance and Song Society), and Animations
(the national puppetry magazine).
Recent theatre work has included the musical play
Bold Nelson’s Praise (Book and Lyrics Dave and
Tim Arthur), which was produced by the Derby playhouse (directed by Tim Arthur) for the 2005 bicentennial
of Nelson’s death, song lyrics and Musical Direction
for the 2002 Sheppey community play The Floating Republic
(Director Jon Oram), and song lyrics and Musical Direction for 2007 Sussex community play Something in Common by Jon Oram.
